Girls weekend in Idaho Falls

I was able to go for 4 days down to Rexburg for a short girls weekend with Mary and my sister in laws. We enjoyed lots of shopping, pedi, Time out for women, and watching Bailey in her Jr. Miss program, and lots of visiting. Bailey did great she got physical fitness. One thing that was lacking was sleep. Garrett and my mom were nice enough to to watch the girls. Thanks for a much needed weekend.

Grandparents Day 2012

Friday was grandparents day at Mesa, this year both Grandparents were able to come plus Great grandpa Don McGary. What a fun day for the girls. They are on the Mesa dance team, they preformed that day also.

The grandparents got to visit their classrooms and got to the bookfair. They had been looking forward to that all week long. It was buy one get one free.

Spring Is starting..........

So that means the Gopher girls are back in business. The first of February we started trapping gophers in Grandpa's fields again. As you looked out into the fields you saw mounds everywhere so we knew we better get started right away. Most days it's so cold but I have been very proud of the kids they are learning how to work and do it happy most of the time. Madalyn and Morgan can do most of the work all by themselves, they just need a little help setting the traps. Garrett has taught them well. Next year I'm hoping to send them out on their own. I have been proud of myself I have become a good "Gopher Mama". Garrett and I see who can trap the most, cause the kids and I do it when he is not around. I have the record with 13 in one day.

As we talked to the girls about what they would save their money for this year this is what they said, Madalyn and Morgan both want to buy Kindles ($200 each), and Natalie some kind of toy (she doesn't know), Brooklyn gum. Last year they saved all of it for Disneyland, this year we told the girls they need to put half in savings for College. They want to go to BYU like Sarah.
In February we had 10 traps going, and caught 70 gophers in that month. In March Garrett decided we needed more traps so he went and bought 20 more traps. I about died when he told me we were going to run 30 traps. But it has paid off, the first week we caught 55 gophers and then the next week it was 61. I never dreamed there were so many in just one field. The girls were so excited about all the money they are making.
It has been a lot of hard work. They have given up watching T.V and playing games on the DS and Ipad after school. They get off the bus at 3:15 eat a small treat and out to the fields we go. Running 30 traps takes us about 2.5 hours to check and reset. So we get back in about 6:00pm eat dinner, homework, piano and to bed they go. I have to say they are pretty sleepy by the time 7:30 comes.

 Finding the hole.
Life as a farm girl!!!!

Garrett's new toy

We finally bought a BIG four wheeler. After looking for over 2 years now, we decided to get this one. It's a New 2013 Polaris 500 H.O. Sportsman we ended up going to Ontario Oregon to get it.
I don't know who is more excited for it the girls or Garrett. The kids didn't know we were getting it, we had told the girls Garrett was at work that day. He left Monday morning and came back that afternoon. A long trip for one day but the price was so much better down there. The girls and I were out after school doing gofers when Garrett got home, he drove it out in the field and they were so excited.

This will be so fun this summer and the four wheel drive will be great pulling the kids on the sleds during the winter.
