I have been thinking alot about this election 2008, this world is a scary place to be right now, and when you have kids we all worry what it will be like for them to grow up. I have wanted to post something about the election but just didn't know how or what to say. I was reading my friends blog (Marcie Koch) and she put it the best way, so i hope Marcie you don't mind but you were thinking just as i was. Here is what she Wrote:
*COUNTRY FIRST*
I am proud to say that I voted for John McCain. He is a class act, a true American, and heck - he chose my BFF Sarah Palin as his running mate!
I thought his concession speech was wonderfully written - it brought tears to my eyes. I, like 56,434,100 Americans, will support Obama as our president and hope for the best in the next four years. I just hope people can look past his color - since our country has been working on ending racial separation and discrimination for over 50 years - and see him as a human being.
I enjoyed Senator McCain's speech so much. I especially like the part about how a person's campaign impacts their whole family. It really really does.
She did a great job. Thanks Marcie!! There so many topics that i don't agree on with obama on. Also how about his illegal aunt that is here, he can't even provide a birth certificate. I'm nervous about what is going to happen to our country and wonder at what point our nation will see the mistake that has been made. Oh well. It is going to get ugly. but i will continue to pray for our President.

hey Jilayne - feel free to take my words anytime...they usually aren't that eloquent! :) i'm glad that blogs allow us to say whatever we're feeling and to express our own opinion - but it's nice when someone shares your opinion!! i'm not sure that our country is looking out for the needs of us small town republicans...it's going to take a lot of prayer.
Hey Jilayne and Marcie those are amazing words, and it is scary for everyone right now...I think no matter what candidates stretch the truth when they are seeking our vote but I was reading the cover of Newsweek (haven't made it any further than that yet) but it says The Recession will End but ourreal problems have just begun and I truly believe that!
I just hate how Obama was saying tax raises will only affect those making 250 k+. then 200 k+, then finally 150 k+! What next! Then he said wealth redistribution is good for everyone. HUH?? I also don't like how he went on Oprah saying he believed in traditional marriage then a month later changed his mind and said he would vote no on prop 8. But I do hope there will be positive changes and will cross my fingers! I seriously don't see people having a problem with him being african american though (I would hope!). So many people of all different races have accomplished SO many things. I think it's funny though how he's like mostly white raised by white people and all anyone can talk about it how he is african american. Sorry for the long rant!! Nice post though, I feel the same way!!
