Do you ever feel like you never see your husband? That is how I feel these past few weeks. Garrett has been so busy this past month. He has been doing on line schooling to get his 4 year Fire Science degree, he already graduated but thought that this extra degree would help him out in advancing in the Fire Dept. (we are hoping to have that done in a year)he just finished a few classes. There has been lots of overtime lately so it's hard to turn down that overtime money, so he has been working a few extra shifts. He had applied to be on the Tri-Cities Hazardous Materials team and we just found out 2 weeks ago he got put on the team and goes to training all next week, but before the classes he has to read a 700 page book and do a ton of worksheets. Then to top it all off he has been studying to take the Lieutenants test that is on May 27th. He feels like he not only needs to pass the test but score really good to have a shot at getting the job. There are 15 other men taking the test. I have not ever seen Garrett study so much in my life, or been so stressed out. We are grateful for him and the extra things he does to make life a little easier on us. Our life is a little crazy right now, I can't wait to go on Vacation the end of May. It will be a much needed vacation for our family.
p.s. Garrett is also the sec./ treasurer for the Fire dept. union. That is where he is tonight, at meetings.

Doesn't it suck to have to get a glimpse of single parenthood?!! But it does make you grateful for them when they ARE around! I had to laugh when I read your post title, because I was thinking you were going to be blogging about all the hunting going on...or at least all the talking about hunting that's been going on!!
I TOTALLY understand your situation! Hope you can get your easter baskets done. I'm going on the easy side this year, ties for the boys and hair bows for the girls. Hope you can endure 'till the end of May. If you have a break down before then, you know I've been there!!
that is rough! but hopefully he will get the promotion. i am super stingy with mike and never want him to do ot on his days off. i'm sure that will change when the kids are a little older!
Oh boy it is hearing things like that, that make me grateful I am a girl and don't have to earn the money. I can't do school or studying! That's cool that he got put on the Haz Mat team I didn't know about that. Hopefully he will do great on the test and gets the position then all this studying will pay off in a big way. Let's just hope you survive until then:)
Sorry Jilayne!! I totally thought you were referring to hunting too.:) Hopefully he'll get the promotion. That would be great for your family. Oh, and Kyle was asking what fire department he works for?
Your post reminds me of Justin and I several years ago. I thought I'd married Mary because she was the only adult I would see for days on end sometimes. It's rough sometimes but you seem to be good at keeping your eye on the long-term. It will get better! It would have been fun to have you along on the shrimping trip but I suppose it is important for Garrett to keep his job. Of course we'll invite you again. Hopefully we'll be able to do some local fishing with you guys this summer!
