Go Dodgers

Madalyn and Morgan have started T-Ball, we are the Mesa Dodgers. We had our first game on Tuesday. The kids did a great job. Me and another mom are the coaches. We were lucky we had great baseball weather.
Madalyn running the bases. At this age it's so cute and fun to watch all the kids.
Madalyn did very well, she got to be the pitcher one time. She was great, and really enjoyed it.
Morgan was the catcher when Madie was pitcher. Morgan didn't like it at all. She could not move with all the equipment on. When she went to bend over to pick up the ball she couldn't bend her knees and breat plate was so big on her, it made it hard to get the ball. She liked playing in the field better.
This is as close to picking up the ball as she could get.
Hit the ball and Run fast!!!!!
I love watching softball I hope one of our kids plays when they are older.

Proud Mama

Natalie the Proud Mama............. taking care of her 4 baby rabbits.
Today was a nice warm day so Garrett and I had taken the two girls outside to do some yard work. Duke our dog is always killing something and bringing it back to the house and leaving it on the yard or front step. Today Garrett and I were spraying weeds and we keep seeing duke coming back and forth from the haystack alongside my dad's field that is right by our house. Duke had found some baby rabbits and he was bringing them to Natalie. Garrett got Natalie a old towel to hold them in. I was very surprised how careful Duke was with the rabbits. He just carried them in his mouth and brought them back to the house. He as fine with Natalie wrapping them up in the towel. At first it was one, then two, three and finally four.
After the fourth one came and we could see where Duke was finding them we locked the dog up and went to see about putting them back. Natalie had taken care of them for awhile now and she was not to excited about putting them back in the hole. We explained that they would die without the mom and that the mom would miss them. She was ok with that as long as we told Madalyn and Morgan that they were her rabbits and she could show them to them when they got home from school.

Garrett and Natalie putting the baby rabbits back in the hole.
While we were out putting the rabbits away we also found 2 baby owls ( at least that is what we think they are). They didn't look to friendly, I keep watching for the mom to come around. My dad has quite the animal refuge out there.

Baby Legs

Who says you can't be stylin when you have a broken leg!!! Thanks to Mary for finding these baby legs, it has made life a little easier for Brooklyn. I was having to cut clothes for them to fit over her cast. This way no cutting and these are so cute and makes changing her diapers easier. I have fallen in love with them. I can't wait for her cast to be off so she can wear both of the baby legs.

I just love this little one. She has such a cute personality. She knows what she wants and cries until she gets it.

Playing with her Easter Basket.

Spring Break

Silly kids!!
We are still alive!!! What a hard long week it was. One week down and hoping we are still getting this cast off Brooklyn the end of the month. It seemed like days were never going to end. I think I'm running on a few hours of sleep, she has gotten better the last two night but still crying out during the night. The last two days we have seen improvement in Brooklyn, she seems to be a little happier and more playful. She still continues to need a lot of attention, and holding. She has figured out how to roll over with it, but she doesn't even want to get in the crawling position. It hurts her too bad.
This week is Spring Break. I have so many things I want to get done outside; mow and fertilize lawn, spray weeds, start planting the garden. Let's hope we have warm weather.

Our first broken Bone

This past week the kids had a few days off from school so we planned a trip to visit Karena's and Trenton's families down in Ontario Oregon. While we were down there nothing seemed to go right. Brooklyn got sick with a cold the day before we left, she had a really hard time sleeping while we were gone. Me and a few of the kids got sick also.
Saturday evening we were at Trenton's house the men were out working on Trenton's boat I had taken Brooklyn up stairs for Madalyn to babysit while I helped Maren make dinner. Madalyn decided to bring Brooklyn downstairs and she fell down the stairs with her. Brooklyn was screaming pretty good, Garrett took a look at her and we just thought she had bruised it. She was really winy that night but as the night went on she got worse and she screamed when we touched her upper right leg. So at 4:00 am on Sunday early morning after a really long night we took her to the ER in Ontario. After a few x rays for her hip and femur we found out that she had broken her femur bone on her right leg. They then put a temporary cast on it and told us to go home and find a Orthopaedic Surgeon to see if she needed surgery. The ride home was not fun at all, she was really hurting and uncomfortable. We were all in need of some good sleep.
Yesterday we took her to Tri-City Orthopaedic Clinic to see Dr. Higgs to see what he recommended. We were very lucky he said that he thought it would heal just fine in a cast. We picked out a nice purple color, I wanted pink but it was a ugly bright pink. So purple it was.
We had to wrap her up really tight so we could get the cast on. She did great. They had told us if we moved to much they would have to take her to the hospital had put her to sleep and then cast it. We were not excited about that at all so I was happy we were able to keep her still enough to get this one on. That would have been one more bill coming our way.
The next 3 weeks are going to be really hard. After 3 weeks they are going to take it off and see what the bone looks like. She can't sleep very well, Garrett or I have to hold her and sleep in a chair. We hope as time goes on she will start to sleep a little better.
The car ride home.
We are trying to find ways to make her happy and life a little easier for her. She has not been eating very well since this all happened.
Madalyn feels really bad about what happened to her little sister, she thinks Brooklyn is mad at her cause when Madie tries to hold her now she just cries. We tried to explain to her that she is just in pain and she wants mom a lot now.
I found this note this morning in Brooklyn's crib

Dear Brooklyn

I am sorry I broke your leg. It was my fault. I should pay for it. and I should take care of you but... Mom and Dad take care of you I really like it thanks Mom and Dad.

So I brought Brooklyn this and I brought Mom and Dad this too.

(she had $2.00 for Brooklyn, $2.00 for mom and $2.00 for dad)

It was so sweet, she had a big heart.

Work Day

On Saturday all the McGary Family got together for a much needed work day at Grandpa Don McGary's house. We had about 25 family members there to help out. We were able to get a lot done in the yard, the men also put a new roof on his house.

The kids had a great time with all the cousins, they helped out in the yard but also found time to play.
Wyatt's wants a ride!!

All that hard work..............We are so hungry, lets eat lunch.
The men did a great job on the roof. It was a long day for everyone. We started about 8:00 and finished around 4:00. We were all sore from the hard work that was completed that day.

Courtney, Heather, Eileen, Trisha, and me (I'm taking the picture) working hard trimming the bushes.

The kids busy pulling the weeds.
The McGary's always know how to turn work days into fun days...........The kids going for a ride in the front of the tractor. They loved it. It was like a ride at the fair.
I thought we were doing great, no one had been hurt all day. Which is amazing with all the big equipment driving around. About 3:30 Natalie was playing outside. We were burning all the trees and bush clippings and whatever else we were getting rid of, someone had pulled a small log or stick out of the fire and she didn't know it was hot and she picked it up. She got burned really bad. It was the worst burn I had ever seen. Within minutes it had bubbles and blisters on it already. This picture was taken today 2 days later and it looks so much better. It was a rough 12 hours for her, she would not take her hand out of the the water. We just keep putting ice cubes in the water to keep it cold. It was so painful for her. I felt really bad for her.

Warm Weather

Last weekend was the first day in a long time that we were able to spend some time outside. The weather was great, 55-60 degrees. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes, flying kites, jumping on the tramp, and they even went as a big group to a race track to ride four wheelers.

We were able to work on a few outside projects, it was great to spend sometime outdoors, we are so ready for summer.

Brooklyn loves it outside. The kids are good about packing her around (I guess I should say Madalyn is good about it) They strap her in the wagon and away they all go to look for buried treasures.

The Fridge

This is Brooklyn's new favorite thing to do..................pull everything off the fridge. She smiles when she has pulled everything off.
She just turned 8 months old, she is still not crawling and shows no interest in crawling. She loves all kinds of baby food and anything else we let her eat. She started sleeping through the night at about 7 months. YES!!!! It is a happy day around our house, MOM is a lot happier and easier to get along with. It's amazing what extra sleep can do for me. How can you not love this little girl???

Wheat Bread

Today Natalie and I decided to make bread. We went to my mom's house and borrowed her wheat grinder. I have a small one in the food storage (for emergencies) it's not electric. That would take forever to make flour. Natalie loved putting the wheat in the grinder and seeing how it turns it into flour. She was covered in flour when we got done. We tried a new recipe this time 100% Whole wheat, it was great. I normally do half and half or just white bread. We loved it!!! The kids will be so excited to eat a slice when they get home from school.
There is nothing better then homemade bread and jam.
