Spelling Bee

Mesa had there annual Spelling Bee on Tuesday. Both girls were able to study really hard and compete. They both got a list of 100 words that might be on the test. They got the words a week before but with the Thanksgiving break we only practiced a few time before we left for Thanksgiving. So on Monday when they came home from school Madalyn really wanted to practice and do well. Morgan also practiced but nothing like Madalyn did. She worked for about 3 hours on it. I keep saying lets take a break but she didn't want to. We went through all the words and then she wrote them all and then back to spelling them out loud.
Tuesday she came running off the bus so excited to show me that she took 2nd place in the 2nd grade spelling Bee. I was very happy and proud for her. She worked so hard and she was excited to get her first medal.  She keep saying "I'm so proud of myself Mom ". Great Job Madalyn. Your hard work payed off.
Morgan did a great job also. She didn't place but made it to the end, she spelled about 10 words. She got a pencil for her effort. She was a little sad that she didn't get a medal like Madalyn. But I think she learned a lesson that she should have wanted to practice more. We tried to make her feel good also, she did great.

Sisters are Best Friends

Natalie and Brooklyn do everything together. They both love to color and play dress up. I only wish I could keep up on the messes they make.

With the weather being cold it's hard to keep the girls entertained. Natalie is always wanting something to do.

Trick or Treating 2011

Natalie was a tap dancer this year, she was able to use Morgan's tap recital dress and shoes. She was a cute dancer. The older girls taught her a couple of foot moves to do.
She was very excited to be able to wear make up somewhere other than at home.

It was Brooklyn's first time going trick or treating. She loved it and figured out very fast what she was suppose to do to get candy. She had a mouth full all night. She was a Bee for her first time. "THE QUEEN BEE" of course.
She hated the hood to the costume until we got to the school for class parties and saw how much attention she was getting from everyone and then decided she liked it.

 Boo!!!!!!
Madalyn had to be an angel this year, I had to look hard for a kids angel costume.
I felt like such a bad mom Monday morning. Madalyn had wanted her hair in hot sticks that morning so it would be extra curly (she was sure all angels have lots of curls). So I set my alarm to get up 15 minutes early so we would have time to curl her hair. At 5:00 am I hear something out in the kitchen so I go out to see what is going on and Madalyn has woken Morgan up  and both of them were dresses in their costumes and were eating cereal.  I begged them to go back to bed but they wouldn't so I told them to watch a movie and when my alarm went off I would come out and help them finish getting ready. So when my alarm goes off I was thinking I don't need to get up the extra 15 minutes cause the kids are already up and dresses and have eaten so I 'Thought" I hit the snooze bottom but I actually turned the alarm off.  I woke up 15 minutes before the bus came and so I was running around trying to frantically get everyone ready. Poor Madalyn only got  3 curls in her hair, she left that day crying to school. I felt so bad. I could not even take her to school later, I had V.T.ers coming, I didn't feel good, I needed to make cupcakes for the party and come up with some games. What a Bad morning it was. When I got to school for the class parties I gave her a big hug and told her how sorry I was. Some days I think that I'm not cut out for this MOM business.
 Morgan was a pink unicorn.

Happy Halloween. Our ward had a trunk or treat and then we went to the grandparents and a few neighbors. Garrett was gone hunting so we kept it low key. We were home by 6:30.

Class Parties

We went to the school for the class parties, it was fun to see all the fun costumes.

Brooklyn enjoyed all the attention she gets from Madalyn's friends. Madalyn and her BFF Corrigan were angels.

Making some yummy treats. I was in charge of Madalyn's class party. We decorated cupcakes, play Halloween Bingo, and heads up 7-up.

pumpkins

Saturday we picked a few pumpkins out of the garden and brought out the knives and spoons to carve them. The girls were very excited, I love to watch but hate getting all the seeds out. So Garrett usually takes over the pumpkins.

What a mess!!!
Brooklyn holding the top to her pumpkin.
These two are sure happy about something. They were so messy that night, the baths were so dirty.

Happy Halloween

Say Cheese......

Here are a few of the many faces of Brooklyn Jenks lately..........She has learned to smile when the camera comes out. We say "Say Cheese Brooklyn". She loves the camera, she will often find it and bring it to me wanting me to take her picture.
Brooklyn and Natalie love to dance and sing to loud music, they both got their love of music from their dad. They like it loud.

Brooklyn often eats two breakfasts. One with me and the girls and then when Garrett gets home from work around 9:00 she thinks that she has to sit right on his lap and eat again. This morning she was being so funny with his hat and some cereal. We are having family pictures this weekend lets hope we get some good smiles
